Guava + Cheese Empanadas
Inspired by my Puerto Rican grandmother, these empanadas use @goyafoods empanada dough and queso quesadilla, filled with guava paste and cheese.
Ingredients
Directions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 400 F.
- 2
Bring the @goyafoods empanada dough to room temperature and place on a cutting board.
- 3
Add a piece of guava paste to the dough, a bit towards the top to give room for folding.
- 4
Add @goyafoods queso quesadilla, fold the empanada, and seal it by pressing the edges down with a fork.
- 5
Complete this with the rest of the empanada dough.
- 6
Grease a baking sheet with a bit of oil and add your empanadas on top.
- 7
Crack an egg in a bowl and whisk, then brush over each empanada to help create a golden crust.
- 8
Using a sharp knife, create a couple slits on the top so the guava can steam as it gets hot while cooking.
- 9
Bake in the oven for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown, let cool for 5 minutes before enjoying, they can get hot!
