Carrots, onion & garlic are fried in lard & oil.

Meanwhile, soak the cabbage in a little salt.

After about 10 minutes, add the chopped cabbage, water, vinegar and spices.

Now the whole thing is simmered for 1.5 hours, occasionally without being stirred and if necessary adding water as needed.

The cabbage is then baked in an ovenproof dish together with the meat for approx. 30 minutes at 190°.
