Baked Brie with Bacon Caramelized Onion and Maple Syrup

    Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the bacon and cook until halfway done, about 3 minutes.

    Remove bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel lined plate. Pour out most of the bacon grease, leaving about 1-2 Tablespoons.

    Lower the heat and add in the sliced onions into the reserved bacon grease, and add brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook until onion is browned and soft, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes.

    Place Brie into the baking dish. Score the top in a crosshatch pattern with a knife. Top it with caramelized onion and bacon pieces.

    Bake at 400F for 10 minutes. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve immediately with sliced baguette, crackers, or apple slices.
