Korean Braised Shorts Ribs or Galbi-Jjim

    Blanch the beef ribs: In a pot, fill it with enough water to cover the beef ribs and bring it to a boil. Add the beef ribs and boil for 15 minutes. Drain the beef ribs, rinse away the scum and return it to the pot.

    Braise the beef ribs: Add garlic and ginger into the pot along with the pre-mix sauce. Add water to cover the beef short rib and boil over high heat. Once it is boiling, cover with a lid, reduce the heat to medium and let it cook for 35 minutes. Stir occasionally during the simmering to avoid burn.

    Stir in the carrots and potatoes into the pot and let it cook for another 45 minutes.

    Then, stir in the rice cakes and cook (covered) for another 15 minutes until rice cakes become soft.

    Once the rice cakes become soft, bring the heat to medium-high and cook for another 10 minutes until the sauce is reduced to a glaze consistency.

    Garnish with green onion, sesame seeds and enjoy!
