In a pan over medium high heat, add some olive oil and butter. Once the butter starts to melt, add onions and salt and sauté for 5-10 minutes. Stir often.

Once onions begin to soften, lower the heat even more and continue stirring. Usually takes about 30 minutes to fully caramelize.

In a bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream and mayo and mix. Add caramelized onions and stir, add chives and some salt.
