Now we are officially in Autumn, this is what you need in your life. It’s a hug in a bowl, it’s comforting, it’s nourishing, and SO easy to make.

    Heat some oil over medium heat.

    Add mustard seeds and spices. Mix for a few minutes. Then add in garlic and ginger. Cook for a few minutes.

    Add the rice, daal, sweet potato and water. Bring everything to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.

    Cover the pot and simmer the kitchari for about 20 minutes.

    Mash the sweet potato with a fork to help thicken it.

    Cook until your desired thickness consistency. If too thick, slowly add water and mix well.
