Beat butter and sugar until smooth and creamy (use a mixer)

Add the eggs, one at a time

Add sour cream, lemon zest, lemon juice and vanilla paste

In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt

Sift the dry ingredients into the batter and mix together. The cake batter will be rather thick.

Transfer to a greased loaf pan

Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 1 hour.

Place on a wire rack and allow the cake to cool.

Combine all icing ingredients and pour over cake (adjust with more powdered sugar or liquid as needed)
