Frankenstein Tanghulu
Crunchy on the outside, spooky on the inside! These Frankenstein heads are actually dango—a Japanese rice flour treat—perfect for Halloween and fall parties!
Ingredients
Directions
- 1
Mix the glutinous rice flour, sugar, and warm water to form a smooth dough.
- 2
Add green food coloring to the dough and knead until it’s evenly colored.
- 3
Shape the dough into small balls for Frankenstein’s head. Use black cocoa or food coloring to create eyes and stitches.
- 4
Boil the dough balls until they float. Cool them in cold water and dry them.
- 5
Skewer the dango balls.
- 6
For the tanghulu glaze, heat 1 cup sugar and ½ cup water to a hard crack stage. Dip the skewered dango into the glaze and let it harden for a shiny, crispy coating.
- 7
Enjoy your spooky crunchy treats!
Notes
Next time, I’ll make the sugar coating thinner for an even crispier bite!
