Something magical happens when you toast orzo in butter and it gets all golden and nutty. It brings such depth to this simple and cozy chicken soup, alongside the MVP of this recipe (AKA Aunt Lily’s Chili Oil)

Directions

    Toast orzo in butter and it gets all golden and nutty.

    Bring chicken stock and water to a boil.

  3. 3

    Add orzo, onion, celery, garlic, and lemon juice.

    Simmer for 20-25 minutes or until orzo is cooked.

    For the Chili Oil, combine red chili flakes, neutral oil, sesame seeds, garlic, ginger, sugar, salt, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan.

    Heat the mixture over low heat for 5-7 minutes or until fragrant.

    Strain the Chili Oil and discard the solids.

    Serve the soup topped with Aunt Lily’s Chili Oil and chives.
