Turn your apples into a delicious, healthy apple butter spread with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Toss cored and sliced (but not peeled) apples into your slow cooker.

  2. 2

Add apple cider vinegar or water, plus spices. Stir it all together, cover, and cook on low for 5-6 hours. Or high for 4-5 hours

  3. 3

Once the apples are soft and dark, blend them smooth with an immersion blender or carefully transfer to a blender.

  4. 4

Turn the slow cooker to high and cook uncovered for 1-2 more hours to thicken and caramelize.

  5. 5

Once it’s thick enough, let it cool for 30 minutes before transferring to containers. Let it cool completely before refrigerating.

  6. 6

Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to a year.
